FLOW's JUMP! Educational Initiative

JUMP! is FLOW's educational component. Currently the JUMP! training is presented by our partner organization, the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (“I-Corps”) initiative in Los Angeles, IN-LA. Their program is called BLITZ and it provides real world experience and the opportunity to learn from the marketplace. IN-LA will help you identify your market and customer base, determine your commercial readiness, and help you develop transition plans to move the technology to market.

The FLOW educational program will be offered by the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (“I-Corps”) Program. This series will help you identify your potential market and customer base, define your value proposition and learn techniques for selling, following the “lean” principles of establishing a new business.

In addition to BLITZ, as part of its JUMP! educational efforts, FLOW provides mentorship support from leading experts across all aspects of the program. Students and recent grads may reach out for this support at any time.

How it Works

Teams admitted to the FLOW competition will conduct 20 customer interviews; teams will report on these interviews in four small workshops with I-Corps faculty/ entrepreneurs. These one-hour weekly sessions will help you refine your business model as you plan for [finals/semi-finals].

All curriculum materials will be provided and you will also be offered the opportunity to have at least one 15-minute office hour session with a faculty member who is also an experienced entrepreneur.

All FLOW teams that successfully complete the educational program will qualify to apply for an additional $50,000 in NSF I-Corps Team grants. Four past FLOW teams have received this $50K grant and two went on to raise additional money to launch their companies!

Meanwhile, you can check out the latest “lean” thinking that will help you get started and accelerate your company to its first financing.
